Policies

Hauora Tairawhiti produces a number of policies to guide us. These include:

Paid Family Care notice and Tairāwhiti DHB policy
On 21 May 2014, Tairāwhiti DHB implemented a policy that clarifies the exceptional circumstances under which we will permit payment of family members residing at the same address as a DHB-funded client for provision of long-term home based support services.
Prior to this date, family members living at the same address have been excluded from being paid to deliver allocated services.
This policy does not change existing eligibility and access criteria for DHB-funded long-term home based support services.
The policy aims to satisfy part 4A of the New Zealand Public Health and Disability Act 2000 amendment (2013); you can read the background documents on the Ministry of Health website at http://www.health.govt.nz/our-work/disability-services/disability-projects-and-programmes/funded-family-care-notice-and-operational-policy/funded-family-carers-background-documents

Child Abuse and Neglect Policy

The Child Abuse and Neglect Policy 2016 (PDF 478KB) provides Hauora Tairawhiti community and hospital-based staff with a framework to identify and manage actual and/or suspected child abuse and neglect. It recognises the important role and responsibility staff have in the accurate detection of suspected child abuse and/or neglect, and the early recognition of children at risk of abuse and adults at risk of abusing children.
