Last Thursday the Minister of Finance read the budget for the 2018/19 year and as has been extensively covered in the media, health was a major benefactor of the government’s intention to invest in more services.

Celebrating standout Nurses and Midwives
The third annual Nurses and Midwives of Tairāwhiti (NAMOT) Awards was held recently. This year the event was held on International Midwives Day, with International Nurses Day next Saturday. The awards highlight the stand out efforts of so many of the team here in Tairāwhiti.

Unprecedented summer for health
DHBs around the country are reporting high levels of need for care during the summer months with unprecedented attendances in EDs and numbers of admissions to wards. There have been reports of many hospitals seeing winter-like levels of people in hospital.
