Core Midwife in Maternity Iidil Merlini, won the Services to Widwifery Award at this year's Nurses & Midwives of Tairāwhiti (NAMOT) Awards. Iidil was nominated by Liz Lee Taylor.
"She demonstrates strong advocacy and leadership in the Maternity Unit, through her tireless tenacity providing excellent quality midwifery care."
Iidil is a qualified lactation consultant and is the Midwifery Clinical Educator for WINTEC, supporting student midwives to train locally.
"She was instrumental in Hauora Tairawhiti achieving certification as a Baby Friendly hospital again this year," says Liz.
The Services to Midwifery Award is for a Midwife that is recognised by their peers as one who leads the way in providing excellent patient care.
